1.  LAPD REPORT – CAR SECURITY

We at the LAPD urge you to take preventative measures to prevent being victimized by burglars and thieves. Here are a few helpful reminders on how to avoid being the next victim of a vehicle theft or burglary from a motor vehicle.

Car Security (especially if you park outdoors):

  • Lock your car, even if it is in the garage.
  • Don’t leave anything in your car; take all items into the house.
  • Don’t leave key fobs in the car.
  • If you have a fob, purchase a Faraday bag which will prevent a thief from electronically reading your fob from outside the house. Keep the fob in its Faraday bag in a safe place inside the house when it is not needed.
  • Have catalytic converters etched with identifying numbers, and consider adding one of the available catalytic converter anti-theft devices.
  • If you park outside (especially if you have a Kia or Hyundai, which seem to be more easily stolen), you might want use additional measures, e.g., a steering-wheel lock such as the Club, or tracking system such as LoJack.

For over 40 years, Westside Thanksgiving Dinner has hosted a free Thanksgiving celebration, offering a sit-down dinner, additional food supplies, clothing, live music, and more. Thousands join us each year to give thanks, share blessings, and celebrate together—all for free!

We’ll be back again this year at the West Los Angeles Civic Center on Thanksgiving Day – November 28. And there are many ways you can help us prepare, starting right now! From collecting food items or doing a clothing drive, to spreading the word to guests or supporters. We also need plenty of help on Thanskgiving Day or the Wednesday before.

Messiah Sing-a-Long
Friday, Dec. 6, 2024 at 8:00 PM
at Westwood Presbyterian Church, 10822 Wilshire Blvd.

Westwood Presbyterian Church’s Music at Westwood presents their annual performance of George Frederic Handel’s Messiah on Friday evening, December 6, 2024, at 8 pm. The audience will join the Westwood Presbyterian Chancel Choir, six esteemed vocal soloists and the Westwood Presbyterian Chamber Orchestra, forming a 150-voice choir as part of the traditional “Messiah Sing-Along,” one of the few events of this kind in greater Los Angeles.

Composed over a three-week period in 1741, “Messiah” is a holiday favorite and regarded as one of the Handel’s finest oratorios. It includes such renowned arias and choruses as the celebratory “Ev’ry valley shall be exalted”, the exuberant “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion” and the majestic “Hallelujah”.
