2 male unknown suspects turned power off to home, smashed rear door, ransacked interior and removed jewelry and designer handbags

Rear window smash – 2 male blacks of unknown age smashed two rear windows to residence and attempted to make entry but failed.

2.  DAYLIGHT SAVINGS REMINDER

Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour before you go to bed Saturday night, November 2. Daylight savings ends this Sunday, November 3! It’s time to “fall back” – set your clocks back one hour and get an extra hour of sleep — at 2 am on Sunday!

It is also a good time to replace the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms as well as update your emergency supplies.

3.  PRESIDENTIAL GENERAL ELECTION – VOTE NOW

The Presidential General Election will take place on Tuesday, November 5.  Ballots were mailed to all registered voters.  Voting is easy! You have several safe, secure, and reliable options for returning your ballot.  You can mail your ballot, drop it off at a collection box or vote in person at a local Vote Center.

At a Drop Box – Drop off your completed vote-by-mail ballot at a secure official drop box in your county at any time between October 8 through the close of polls on November 5.

By mail – Make sure your vote-by-mail ballot return envelope is postmarked by November 5, 2024, and arrives by November, 12, 2024. No stamp needed.

In Person Vote Centers —Drop your completed vote-by-mail ballot off at a Vote Center by 8:00 p.m. on November 5. Voting locations offer voter registration, replacement ballots, accessible voting machines, and language assistance.

4.  PUMPKIN COMPOSTING EVENT

The 2nd Annual Great Pumpkin Bash
Sunday, November 3rd, from 11 AM to 3 PM
at Pan Pacific Park

Join us on Sunday, November 3rd, from 11 AM to 3 PM at Pan Pacific Park for a family-friendly event where you can turn your Halloween pumpkins into compost! We’ll have a Dodgers Strike Zone, Smash Patch, food vendors, face-painting, bounce houses, and more. Bring your pumpkins and come ready to smash, pitch, and compost while having fun!

5.  CONVERSATIONS WITH VETERANS

Each year around Veterans Day, Congressman Ted Lieu brings together 6 to 8 veterans to join him in an event where the veterans tell a story about something they experienced while serving.

We hope that community members will join us in showing their support and appreciate to our local veterans by attending this virtual event. Please register to get the Zoom link.

6.  NEW RESTAURANT IN WESTWOOD VILLAGE

7.  WEST LAPD HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE

West Los Angeles Station will be hosting its Annual Toy Giveaway on December 18, 2024. Toy drive collection begins today and will end on December 17, 2024.

Please donate Unwrapped and New Toys for kids Ages 8-12.  Toys can be dropped off at West Los Angeles Station lobby between the hours of 7 am and 8 pm.

8.  EMPOWER LA YOUTH CONFERENCE FOR TEENS

EmpowerLA proudly presents the 2025 EmpowerLA Youth Conference, a one-day event on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 8:00am-4:00pm designed to engage and inspire youth from across Los Angeles. This year’s event will welcome 100 young people between the ages of 14-17 who will dive into the role the Neighborhood Council system plays in grassroots local democracy, attend learning sessions on ways to be civically engaged in the community, network with like-minded young leaders, engage with City leaders, and so much more. 

EmpowerLA seeks to motivate young people to get involved with the Neighborhood Council system and intentionally shape their personal and professional futures. Conference attendees will have the opportunity to hear from City leaders, attend workshops and panel discussions, and participate in a resource fair with over a dozen City departments and trusted community partners. This conference is free to attend, and breakfast and lunch will be provided to all attendees.

Youth interested in attending the 2025 EmpowerLA Conference will be asked to complete a short application.

Exploring Your Universe 2024
Sunday, November 3, 2024 from 12:00 – 5:00 p.m.
at the UCLA Court of Sciences

Join us for the 17th annual EXPLORING YOUR UNIVERSE 2024!

EYU is a K-12+ science festival with hands-on exhibits, experts, and activities for everybody!  Join us for over 50 interactive science booths, science talks, “Ask a Scientist” Q&A panels, a planetarium, nighttime telescopes, as well as an award ceremony presenting a special guest with the Science and Education Pioneer Award. All activities are held by real scientists and organized by UCLA volunteers.

Admission is free but registration is required.

We’re very excited to present “Viva Classic Broadway!” featuring soprano Oriana Falla and tenor Arnold Livingston Geis.
