1. BROXTON PLAZA – COMING SOON TO WESTWOOD VILLAGE
From the Westwood Village Improvement Association (WVIA):
By September 2024, Broxton Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic, creating a pedestrian-friendly plaza to enhance the vibrancy and accessibility of Westwood Village. The Broxton Plaza is a temporary two-year pilot program, and if successful will become permanent.
The Broxton Plaza will feature a patterned street treatment, large planters, tables, chairs, games, and weekly activations. Located on lower Broxton Avenue between Weyburn and Kinross Avenues, it will repurpose the street space into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly area for events, outdoor dining, and activities.
Parking meters will no longer be available on the street, but the Broxton Public Structure offers 2 hours of free parking and a flat rate after 5 p.m. The construction will not affect the parking lot. The closure of Broxton Plaza has the same footprint as the Westwood Village Farmers Market; the parking structure will remain open!

2. DMV NEWS – REAL ID DEADLINE
The DMV reminds Californians there is less than one year remaining before the U.S. Department of Homeland Security begins enforcing the REAL ID requirement. Starting May 7, 2025, a REAL ID, or other federally approved identification, will be necessary to board domestic flights and access certain federal facilities.
To apply for a REAL ID, Californians should visit REALID.dmv.ca.gov, fill out the online application and upload their documents. Customers must visit a DMV office and bring their uploaded documents to complete the application. By starting the process online, it should take only about 15 minutes in the office.

3. WESTWOOD REC. CENTER POOL PARTY
We’re throwing a pool party! City Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky is sponsoring a pool party at the Westwood Recreation Center Pool on August 22. Join us for a free, fun filled evening with music, food and games!

Beginning Chess

Join us in the library this Saturday, August 17th, from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. for Beginning Chess. Chess expert Brian Glover will introduce the classic game of strategy. All ages and levels are welcome!

CicLAvia – Meet the Hollywoods

Our 54th CicLAvia Sunday is here! 6.6 miles of open streets will be transformed into a public park for the day, connecting West Hollywood, Hollywood, and East Hollywood. The Hollywoods are jam packed with cultural landmarks, public art, and world-class eateries. There will be tons to see and do along Santa Monica Blvd, Highland Ave, and Hollywood Blvd.
