3.  TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENTS – HILGARD & STRATHMORE

From Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky:

The new Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB) at the intersection of Hilgard Ave. & Strathmore Dr. as part of the CD5 Westside Transportation Improvements Project was successfully activated last week.

The new addition, which remains dark until a pedestrian desires to cross the street in this location and pushes the activation button, will flash yellow to slow traffic and then red to stop traffic, allowing pedestrians a safe passage.

4.  PEDESTRIAN PLAZA COMING TO WESTWOOD VILLAGE

From Urbanize LA:

An eight-year-old plan to convert a one-block stretch of Broxton Avenue into a pedestrian-only plaza is set to finally move forward this summer.

The Daily Bruin reports that the Westwood Village Improvement Association has received approvals from the City of Los Angeles to finally implement the Broxton Plaza project, which would close Broxton Avenue to automobiles between Weyburn Avenue and Kinross Avenue.
