2.  WESTWOOD PARK SURVEY – POSSIBLE GARDEN AREA

Westwood Park Wants Your Feedback!

The Westwood Park Advisory Board (PAB) is considering the addition of a natural garden in the northeast corner of Westwood Park, located south of the Federal Building and abutting Veteran Avenue. The PAB has created a survey to:

  1. evaluate the need for a garden,
  2. the interest in this potential project from all park stakeholders, the community and potential neighborhood visitors of the park; and
  3. to gather early input on some of the features of the garden.

The purpose of the garden would be to beautify the park and provide some opportunities for community engagement. Important considerations for the garden would include low maintenance, drought-tolerant landscaping, a selection of native California plants, ADA pathways, educational programming, and the opportunity for volunteers to help maintain the garden.

PLEASE HELP US by completing the survey at the following link below by April 21, 2023:

 Thank you,
The Garden Task Force

4.  METEOR SHOWERS – WHEN TO WATCH

From the Westwood-Century City Patch:

Watch For Fireballs in the Sky this Month:
The Lyrid meteor shower runs from April 15-29, peaking overnight April 22-23, when the moon will be about 9 percent full, according to the American Meteor Society.

It’s an average sky show, producing about 15 or 20 shooting stars an hour, but it historically has produced bright Lyrid fireballs that blaze across the sky and leave dust trails that last for several seconds, according to NASA.
