1.  LAPD CRIME REPORT – MYSTERIOUS FOOD DELIVERIES

THEFT – PETTY (plain theft-petty) ($950 & under)
Incident #: 230805173
600 BLOCK HILGARD AV  |  1/28/2023 @ 10:00 AM

MYSTERIOUS FAST-FOOD DELIVERIES
Numerous residents of Westwood Hills (the neighborhood on the west side of UCLA) have reported an unusual situation.  Over the last week, many residents have received food deliveries that they did not order.  Food has arrived from Uber Eats, McDonalds and a variety of other locations.  Different restaurants and different delivery people.

According to LAPD detectives, one of the fast-food delivery people that was caught on video is known to LAPD as burglary suspect in connection with crimes in other neighborhoods.

Senior Lead Officer James Allen strongly advised that you do not leave any such unordered fast food outside your door. Also, if you know one of your neighbors is out of town, do them a favor and throw out any fast-food deliveries left at their door. Officer Allen feels there’s a very good possibility that criminals are using this way to judge whether a house is vacant or if the owner is away – they deliver the food, and then check back later or the next day to see if it’s still there.

He also cautioned against eating any such food, in case it has been tainted.

If you receive an unordered food delivery, you should call 877-275-LAPD (877-275-5273). This way, police can come to you to file a report. You can then give all the pictures and footage from the deliveries.

Second Saturday Concert Series:
Our new free informal monthly concert series at Westwood Library called “SECOND SATURDAYS” debuts a week from this Saturday, on February 11. This new series is in addition to our signature Sunday concerts at the library.  Unlike the Sunday concerts, which take over the entire library while it’s closed, the Second Saturday concerts will be much more informal — they will take place upstairs in the alcove by the balcony while the library is open for regular business. Starting at 3:30 p.m., concerts will last approximately an hour.  This is a great opportunity to introduce your kids to live classical music and musicians in the casual, safe, familiar setting of our local library.

THE BELROSE DUO
Saturday, February 11 at 3:30 PM

We are honored to welcome two very special guests to open our new series: cellist David Garrett from the L.A. Philharmonic, and concert pianist Junko Ueno Garrett of the piano faculty at Occidental College.Their program, titled Time Traveling with Cello and Piano, spans the eras from Bach and Mozart, to Schumann, Walton and Copland—along with fascinating anecdotes from the world of music.
