2.  FIND YOUR GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVES

The L.A. Times has developed a project that allows you to see who represents you in various branches of the government. It also includes phone numbers and email addresses for those elected officials, should you need to contact them.

Engaging with bureaucracy can feel confusing and intimidating.  This project was created to help Angelenos learn more about their local government and institutions that affect their day-to-day lives.

Simply enter your address via the link below and find out who represents you in the City and County of Los Angeles, the State of California and in the Federal Government.

3.  CURBSIDE ORGANICS RECYCLING – NOW REQUIRED

OrganicsLA is a curbside organics recycling program from the City of Los Angeles, mandated by Senate Bill 1383, a statewide mandate aimed at keeping organic waste out of landfills and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Effective immediately, residents serviced by LASAN are required to place food scraps and food-soiled paper, along with yard waste, in their green bin. The City of Los Angeles will pick up the green bin weekly and the collection day will remain the same.

Residents serviced by the City’s recycLA program should work through their property management company to request organics service, if it is not already provided. To establish organics service, the property management company should contact our 24-hour Customer Care Center at 1-800-773-2489 and request a waste assessment, from their recycLA service provider.

For more information go to:

4.  EMERGENCY POP-UP DRILL

In Person Drill: Practice responding to and managing incidents deployed out of a Neighborhood Staging Area

Your Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and Neighborhood Team Program (NTP) is hosting our next Neighborhood Staging and Deployment Pop-Up Drill in the West LA area!

This drill will focus on Staging Area Operations. Most members will be inside the classroom simulating being a Scribe, Radio Operator, or Staging Manager at a Neighborhood Staging Area with a couple members outside providing radio incidents.

5.  SAFETY FAIR & CATALYTIC CONVERTER ETCHING

We encourage you to attend the upcoming Crime Prevention & Safety Fair, hosted by the West LA Police Dept.  There will be a number of safety-related activities at the event as well as food and music.  In particular, you may wish to consider signing up for “catalytic converter etching”.

The Greater Los Angeles Area has been experiencing thefts of catalytic converters, machinery underneath the car made of precious metals, that requires your car to run properly. It can cost up to $2,000 to replace your catalytic converter if stolen, and it is illegal to drive without one.

If you would like to attend the Safety Fair and have your catalytic converted etched with identification information, you must register for an appointment.  Appointments fill up quickly.  Email Senior Lead Officer Jimmy Lavenson, at 30627@lapd.online for an appointment.

6.  SEPULVEDA TRANSIT CORRIDOR PROJECT – OPEN HOUSE

Metro is continuing environmental review for the Sepulveda Transit Corridor project, which would provide a high-quality transit service between the Valley and the Westside.

We invite you to join us at one of our upcoming Community Open Houses to learn more about the project. The open houses will focus on potential station locations and how to access this future transit system. Each open house will feature the same information and include opportunities for the public to engage and ask questions of Metro staff and the Pre-Development Agreement (PDA) teams.
