4. STAY HEALTHY THIS WINTER

COVID-19 cases are rising in LA County, and other viruses such as the flu and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) are circulating too. Here are some measures you can take to stay safe and healthy this winter.

COLD MEDICINE SHORTAGE
Californians flocking to drug stores across the state are facing empty medicine shelves as three major respiratory viruses spread rapidly.  Southern California residents sick with influenza, RSV or COVID-19 are having to contend with picked-over and empty medicine shelves in pharmacies this week, according to multiple reports.

Drug stores have reported shortages in fever reducers such as Motrin and Tylenol — a situation that is sounding the alarm statewide as emergency rooms across the state fill up to accommodate both children and adults sickened with respiratory viruses circulating. California — particularly Southern California — is experiencing an unusually bad flu and RSV season.

5. DMV NEWS – REAL ID DEADLINE EXTENDED

For the third time, the federal government has passed down a massive extension on the deadline to get a REAL ID.

Residents of California have an additional 24 months to obtain their REAL IDs, a document that will be necessary to board domestic flights and enter certain federal buildings, after the Department of Homeland Security on Monday extended the enforcement deadline to May 7, 2025.

Officials said the extension is needed, in part, because of lingering problems from COVID-19 that caused backlogs in state agencies charged with issuing driver’s licenses.

To apply for a REAL ID, Californians should visit
