1. HWPOA BOARD MEETING – VIDEO CONFERENCE

Members of the community are welcome to join the Zoom call. Please let us know if you plan to attend and we will send you the link to access the video-conference. Email Dana at hwpoa@aol.com.
2. HOLIDAY THEFT PREVENTION
‘Tis the season to be… stealing! Please be aware of the following and take appropriate precautions:
Follow-home robberies have occurred in several areas of Los Angeles. The suspects target people wearing expensive jewelry that is very visible and driving high-end vehicles. The best prevention is always being aware of your surroundings and when leaving a shopping center, night club or restaurant. When driving in your vehicle, always check your mirrors to see if you’re being followed. If you believe you’re being followed, drive to the nearest police station. If you are unable to get to a police station, drive to a crowded public place and call police.
Porch Pirates are still stealing packages from your home while you’re away. Think about having deliveries sent to work and have your porch cleared by neighbors if you’re not home. If you’re ordering now, and going on vacation, check the delivery dates and think about delaying shipment.
Trash Cans should be removed on pickup day and not left out an extra day. Those are sure indicators you’re not home — EVEN if you are, which can be even more dangerous.

5. WAYS TO GIVE DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON
Here are a few ways you can help the community this holiday season:
MEALS ON WHEELS – WEST LA
Meals on Wheels-WLA has been serving our community for over 46 years and we hope to continue for many more years to come, BUT WE URGENTLY NEED YOUR HELP. Our food costs are up 41% since pre-pandemic levels. During the same period, the number of at-risk Veterans, vulnerable seniors and homebound that we serve increased by 61%. Many clients are unable to cover the food costs, yet Meals on Wheels of West Los Angeles never turns anyone away who is unable to pay.
Please consider donating whatever you are able to so that we can continue our vitally important charitable work.
BLANKET & SOCK DRIVE – SPREAD THE WARMTH
The Department of Los Angeles Sanitation & Environment is organizing a donation drive to collect cold-weather items for homeless individuals across Los Angeles. They are collecting donations of new and gently used blankets, sleeping bags, and socks throughout December 30.
Donations can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. weekdays at many city yards. The nearest location is:
West LA District Yard
2027 Stoner Avenue
For more information, please see flyer below.
LAPD HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE
Please consider supporting West LAPD’s Holiday Toy Drive. Gifts (unwrapped and new toys for kids ages 8-12) may be dropped off in the lobby of the WLAPD Station at 1663 Butler Ave. See flyer for more information.
FRIENDS OF WESTWOOD LIBRARY
Your local library needs your help! Donate to the Friends of Westwood Library to help our library all year long. We buy the Westwood Library extra books to supplement City funding — we fund extra programs for children, teens, and adults — we pay for a Computer Aide – and much more.
Support our library and see the benefits for yourself. Thank you!
