2.  LADWP PROJECT – SUNSET BLVD. LANE CLOSURES

Construction start date has been moved to TUESDAY JUNE 25, starting at 9:00am. You may have noticed digital construction signs have been posted throughout the area in preparation.

Our goal is to get as much construction done over the summer while students are on summer vacation. There may be times when we extend the working hours to expedite construction. We recognize that traffic is a big concern and Traffic Control Officers from LADOT will be located throughout the work zones to help with traffic flow.

As a reminder, we will be working in increments along Sunset Blvd, not along the entire stretch of Sunset. And two lanes will be open in each direction – one eastbound and one westbound lane – throughout construction. At the end of each work day, all lanes will be opened back up.

3.  HOLMBY WESTWOOD GREEN TEAM WORKSHOP

Please join The HW Green Team for a FREE TreePeople Tree Care Team Training Workshop in Holmby Westwood, Saturday, June 29 from 9 AM to Noon, 801 Malcolm Avenue.

In this lively and informative morning, TreePeople Lead ISA Certified Arborist Linda Eremita will help us learn to take care of our street trees.

This workshop is for all neighbors interested in the health of our trees.  The focus of this Green Team/TreePeople workshop is on newly-planted trees.

When you walk your dog, take your after-dinner stroll, or even drive by on your way to somewhere else, you will be much more aware and will notice change and needs in our trees.  Join the Holmby Westwood Green Team as “Eyes on our Street Trees.”

6.  SWING BAND PRE-JULY 4th CONCERT – FREE!

SAVE THE DATE!
LAPD Swing Band Concert
Sunday, June 23 at 2:30 PM
at Westwood Library (1246 Glendon Ave.)

Join us for the first concert in the 2019 Season of our popular FREE Concert Series @ Westwood Library, featuring the virtuoso SWING BAND of the LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT BAND, with a terrific pre-Independence Day concert. We’ll be upstairs in the library on a Sunday afternoon when the library is not open for regular business.

The LAPD BAND’s 17-person SWING BAND, under the baton of Maestro Richard Allen, will be accompanied by singers for a fabulous program of American popular music from the World War II era — in commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of D-Day this June. Don’t miss this lively pre-Fourth of July celebration. Fun for your whole family!

Admission is FREE, with FREE parking at the library. Library garage and doors open at 2 PM. Concerts last approximately one hour, with no intermission. After the concert, meet the musicians and enjoy a complimentary reception hosted by FELLOW Restaurant and the Friends of Westwood Library.

7.  VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – THIS SUNDAY

Dear Friends – We need volunteers to help with this Sunday’s concert at the Westwood Library!

For this Sunday’s fabulous concert with the LAPD SWING BAND, we need help in moving the tables and chairs that are in the Library and setting them up for our concert audience.

The set-up hours are approximately 12:30 – 2 pm on Sunday, and the take-down hours will run approximately 4:30 pm – 5 pm.

If you can help, or you have a teenager in your family who can help, please email info@lamusicalsalon.org with name and contact info. Teens will earn community service credit.

Thanks, and looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Best,
Terry Tegnazian
