1. WILSHIRE BUS LANE – PROJECT UPDATE
The Los Angeles County portion of the Wilshire Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project is underway. Construction activities will take place on Wilshire Boulevard between Bonsall Avenue to San Vicente Boulevard. The project includes the addition of a fourth eastbound lane, and the extension of the westbound left-turn pocket at Wilshire Boulevard at Federal.
Construction activities for the next two weeks will take place on the westbound curb lane between Bonsall Avenue to San Vicente. Activities will take place beginning nightly from 9:00PM to 5:00AM, until the installation of the k-rail on the westbound curb lane. Beginning on September 3, work will begin 24-hour shifts, until September 19, 2014.
Activities include the removal and replacement of the westbound curb lane, installation of new drain pipes, street lights, and traffic loops (in the ground) and traffic signals.
There are no changes to the current bus schedule.
The Bonsall Avenue on and off ramps are not impacted by this work and remain open for use.

2. LAPD CRIME REPORT
Current Trending Analysis
Residential Burglaries: Around Westwood and adjacent areas and Hillside areas. Auto related crimes (Break Ins): Around Westwood and adjacent neighborhoods. Package Thefts appear to be trending throughout the area. Packages being delivered and left unattended in accessible areas are being stolen.
Protect yourself from becoming a victim and crime statistic. Ensure that you remove all visible items and valuables from inside of your vehicle. Your car, regardless of whether it’s locked and secured or not, is not a safe or secure place to leave ANYTHING! Remember, Lock It, Hide It, Keep It!
Burglary:
600 block Loring Ave. RD: 0819. Between 8/30/14, 12:00 PM and 9/02/14, 12:00 PM, unknown suspect(s) entered via unlocked front door and removed cameras.
200 block S. Beverly Glen Blvd. RD: 0811. Construction site. Between 8/25/14, 6:00 PM and 8/26/14, 7:15 AM, unknown suspect(s) pried rear garage door and removed tools.
400 block Loring Ave. 9/3/14 in the afternoon, unknown suspect(s) entered via unlocked back door and removed jewelry and cash. Alarm system was nat armed.
3. WESTWOOD VILLAGE FINE ARTS FESTIVAL
The Westwood Village Fine Arts Festival will be held in Westwood
Village in Los Angeles CA on September 13-14, 2014.
The Festival will be located on Lindbrook Ave. between Westwood
Blvd., and Glendon Ave. The hours of the event are from 10:00 am
to 5:00 pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
This outdoor festival will feature accomplished artists from
throughout the Western United States presenting their original
work in all medium of two and three dimensional fine art, including
paintings in acrylic, oils, and watercolors, photography, etchings,
sculpture in clay, glass, metal, stone and wood. Admission is free!
4. PLATO SOCIETY OF LOS ANGELES

5. MOVIE PREMIERE – STREET CLOSURES
Bosch Media will be holding the premiere of “Field of Lost Shoes”, at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the Regency Village Theater, located at 961 Broxton Ave.
Portions of Broxton Ave. and Weyburn Ave., including street, curb lane and sidewalks will be closed to pedestrian and street traffic on the day of the event.

6. TREE TRIMMING
HWPOA recently received from our Council Office the list of trees that were trimmed in our district. Due to budget constraints and limited resources, some streets in Holmby Westwood were not trimmed. According to the Council Office, more streets will be scheduled for tree trimming in 2015.
7. PARKING DURING JEWISH HOLIDAYS
The Department of Transportation, Parking Enforcement and Traffic Control Division will relax enforcement of street cleaning, time limit and preferential parking restrictions during the upcoming Jewish holidays.
Rosh Hashana: Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 from 2:00 PM to Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014 at 12:00 midnight.
Yom Kippur: Friday, Oct. 3, 2014 from 2:00 PM to Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 at 12:00 midnight.
Sukkot: Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014 from 2:00 PM to Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014 at 12:00 midnight.
Simchat Torah: Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014 from 2:00 PM to Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014 at 12:00 midnight.
