1.  LAPD CRIME REPORT

Residents have reported the following incidents:

(1) Suspicious Car – A car parked on Le Conte near Hilgard, pulled a neighbor’s recycling bin to their car, pulled papers from the bin and brought the papers to the front seat.  I asked him and the female driver what they were doing and they looked upset (as if I caught them) and they told me they were recycling. They then drove off (leaving the blue bin in the street) and through Westwood Village …they then pulled over 3 different times to stop and then drive again.

This incident was reported to the LAPD, and here is a portion of the response from the LAPD:

While we can only speculate as to their motives, it is a good reminder to ensure that we are doing everything possible to protects ourselves and secure our property and personal information.

(2) Suspicious Characters – On April 10 at 10:30 PM I looked out the window on Strathmore (near Hilgard) and saw two people in dark clothing and ski hats walking on the street side of cars parked looking in the windows. They saw me and continued on towards Hilgard. I called 911 and they came and patrolled the street with search lights and the surrounding streets.  I don’t know if they found them. But be careful to lock cars and don’t leave ANYTHING in your car.

(3) Car Break-In – My car (on Strathmore near Hilgard) was broken into on the evening of April 12. It was locked but they opened it somehow.  They presumably used a new electronic device that opens doors and trunks so the robber doesn’t have to break windows.  There wasn’t much for them to steal except a coin purse. They came around 4:47am in a white car – either a Jetta or BMW 3 series.
