Why train?
If a major disaster occurs, the LAFD, paramedics, police…WILL NOT COME! They will be deployed FIRST to major incidents such as collapsed buildings. That is why you constantly hear…You MUST be prepared to take care of yourself. In the CERT course they say…“The Greatest Good for the Greatest Number of People.” When you are trained, you are far more equipped to deal with your circumstances without needing aid from outside sources.
CERT members are trained in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations. You will learn how to prepare for emergencies, what supplies you should NOW have in your house, how much food, how much water but most importantly, how to protect your family in an emergency!

A HWPOA member who was a client of SSA Security Group and Moore Protection when she lived in Pacific Palisades, recently invited both companies to make a presentation to Holmby Westwood residents at Westwood United Methodist Church. SSA Security Group is a patrol company that hires retired and off duty policemen. Moore Protection is a monitoring company. Both companies work together in Pacific Palisades, Hancock Park, Windsor Square and part of Brentwood.
HWPOA does not recommend, promote or endorse security companies or any other vendors or services. Please do your own due diligence if you would like to learn more about these companies:

5. STK RESTAURANT AT THE W HOTEL
The following is a review of STK from a Holmby Westwood resident:
“Last Friday evening my husband and I took advantage of the STK’s offer to try their restaurant located in the W Hotel on Hilgard Avenue. They offered a $50 coupon and two free drinks. We found the room which included the bar to be beautiful. The ambient noise level was low enough so that it was easy to have a comfortable conversation. A minor criticism is that we found the volume of the music a little too loud and the track selections repetitious. The menu spotlights steak dishes which we ordered along with other items. We found the steak was cooked perfectly and everything else was delicious. Even though the restaurant was moderately busy, we experienced very attentive service including a visit by the manager, Michael Victoria. We feel fortunate to have this lively and lovely new restaurant in our neighborhood and highly recommend it.”
STK located at The W Los Angeles would like to offer the members of HWPOA a special gift to welcome you all to the restaurant, newly opened at The W Hotel here in Westwood.
Each household may receive a complimentary glass of sparkling wine along with a $50 Dining Credit towards your next visit to dine with us at STK.
Should you choose to accept the offer, STK will also keep you up to date on any special happenings at the hotel that might interest you.
